Chelsea stat today with a 433 that has Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher deployed in roving 8 roles in the midfield 3, with Jorginho sitting behind them controlling the play.
It’s a setup that gets the best out of the two academy products and their willingness and ability to get forward, as well as keeping Jorginho in areas where he is most comfortable and most able to show his quality.
It worked wonders against Wolves a few weeks ago, as Graham Potter’s team ran out 3-0 winners, and we have been looking forward to seeing it since then.
Of course, you never quite know how it will look out on the field – Gallagher could be used as more of a Mason Mount style inside forward once the ball is in play. Given Potter’s propensity to make changes mid game, anything is possible.
Either way, the RLC-Gallagher combo is something we want to see more of.
