Chelsea have won tonight, but the air was sucked out of the stadium moments before the final whistle as Ben Chilwell went down clutching his hamstring.
It was almost the final kick of the ball – he came that close to making it to full time. But instead he looked in serious pain, and now looks certain be out for a while. He joins Reece James, our other wing back, on the sidelines.
It’s a horrible repeat of last year’s winter period, where we lost the same pair of players. That cost us then – and it may cost us now.
We will hear more from Graham Potter later tonight, but we will imagine he will just say we have to wait for the scans tomorrow or the day after.
Even in the best case, from what we saw, a month would be a minimum – and that means no World Cup for Chilly.
