They claim that the only thing holding it back as of right now is that Chelsea are trying to push to get it done in January, rather than waiting for the summer. However, the report says that any sooner than the summer is seen as unlikely.
Nkunku has a £58m release clause in his contract which will become active next summer, but Chelsea have signalled a willingness to pay more than that immediately, both to ensure a deal is done soon but also to permit them to spread the fee over a number of years.
