Chelsea’s impressive summer signing reveals details about settling in at Cobham

The signing of Cesare Casadei by Chelsea went slightly under the radar this summer because of all the other madness that was going on.

But he’s been really impressive in the youth teams, and he’s looking ready for a senior loan already.

He’s given an interview for the first time since his summer move, and his quotes in the Gazzetta dello Sport reveal plenty of interesting things about how things are going.

“When the offer arrived and I had the opportunity to have this new experience, I honestly took it with open arms. It wasn’t an easy choice to make and it wasn’t easy not even at the beginning because I didn’t know the language well and I’m still learning it, but I felt like doing it to get out of my comfort zone: for now I’m having fun and it’s a super positive experience,” Casadei said.

“I grew up humanly, because I had to begin to get by on my own, and technically, because there is more intensity here, the game speed is higher. Like training: you work much less dry and almost everything with the ball, starting with the warm-up”.

At 19 and physically impressive for his age, the midfielder would likely already be on loan if he was an academy product. But clearly it’s been important to help him settle in a new country, and whether it’s next month or in the summer, it won’t be long before he’s playing senior football.

If he really impresses Graham Potter, he might even have a role in the first team squad in the future.
