Chelsea have “verbal agreement” for Joao Felix loan

We told you things would move fast.

David Ornstein is reporting that Chelsea have made a “verbal agreement” with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix on loan.

The Blues will pay all of the Portugal star’s wages, as well as a hefty €11m fee to Atletico to get him for 6 months. Desperate times have called for desperate measures, it seems.

What is interesting is that Ornstein mentions that both Arsenal and Manchester United were keen, and that Felix has chosen us because our “project appealed”.

We’re not sure exactly how our project of plunging down the league table as his other two options disappear over the horizon appeals to anyone, but we’re just happy to have some new blood on board.

The injuries to Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling have likely forced our hand a little, and the sooner we can get Felix in the door the better, whether or not he turns into a success long term.
