Chelsea have been searching the transfer market to bring in a midfielder this month, with reports stating that Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are the top targets before the window slams shut on 31st January at 11pm.
Considering the potential price tags of those two top targets, it is thought that Chelsea are also considering a potential loan midfielder to tide them over until the summer, Denis Zakaria had come to Chelsea to on a loan deal last summer but is currently another casualty on Chelsea’s injury list and is expected to be out for another couple of weeks.
One of those potential targets for midfield was Franck Kessie, who Matt Law stated could be looked at by the club:
Chelsea to step up midfielder bid after sealing Madueke deal…
– Caciedo price v v high
– Spurs resistant to Bissouma/Ziyech deal
– McKennie not on radar
– Kessie could be looked at

However it now seems like that potential target is no longer, as Fabrizio Romano delivered an update on Kessie’s situation via Barcelona manager Xavi:
Franck Kessié won’t leave Barcelona, Xavi confirms: “I’ve never considered Kessié’s departure”. 🔵🔴🔒 #FCB

It’s set to be a frantic final few days of the window, as they say, a never a dull day at Chelsea.
