(Video): Chelsea’s plan to sell winger halted

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea actually planned to sell Christian Pulisic as soon as they signed a new winger in January which ended up being Mykhalio Mudryk but they were then halted due to Christian’s injury that was sustained at the start of the month vs Manchester City.

Fabrizio as always spent plenty of time covering transfers from across the globe with the focus on American players during this episode but for the Christian Pulisic specific update you will want to skip to around 9:25 mins where he details what was said above and also the future plan when it comes to Chelsea’s winger.

  1. What irony! It’s been ages that he can’t seem to get regular starts or get the club to agree to sell him and then, if Romano is to be believed (and he’s usually reliable), CFC are lining up the deal for Mudryk and a transfer away for Pulisic, but are inexplicably risking the latter’s health by FINALLY playing him!?!? It’s utterly laughable to have left the guy largely on the shelf for the better part of the last year and then suddenly start playing him game in and game out only AFTER they’ve apparently made the decision to ship him out??? I’d love to know who’s brilliant idea that was. Perhaps Potter saw the light after Pulisic put in a strong WC performance or the club was trying to spike his valuation (or both), but what a tragedy—especially for a kid who’s only ever wanted to play. He has to have known for a while now that he’d be better off at a club that believed in him and so hearing this news makes his latest bad luck with injury doubly cruel.
