Chelsea have just released a statement confirming that Thiago Silva picked up knee ligament damage in his clash with Harry Kane on Sunday, and will now be out almost until the the end of the season.
We heard earlier that the defender would miss our next two games, and the club statement isn’t too specific beyond admitting he has knee ligament damage. Ben Jacobs says confidently in his Tweet that the former PSG star will be out until April.

This is a huge chance for the other central defenders to step up – We will likely see Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly in the Champions League, with Benoit Badiashile looking to displace one of them for Premier League action.
As well as replacing Silva’s quality, we also desperately need someone to replace his leadership, and that may prove even more difficult in a squad which looks totally devoid of it right now.
