Chelsea youngster involved in first team training

Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine featured in first team training today at Cobham.

The squad returned today after being given Sunday and Monday off to clear their heads after the loss at home to Southampton.

Castledine is a midfielder and has been impressive for Chelsea’s youth side. It’s unlikely he will get a look in but bedding in young talent into the men’s team ensures competitiveness and the opportunity to build experience.

Graham Potter kept a watchful eye as the session marked the return of Cesar Azpilicueta following a head injury at the weekend. The captain of Chelsea was discharged yesterday and is set to be cleared for action again soon.

Denis Zakaria and Mateo Kovacic remain valid options for the weekend’s trip to Spurs on Sunday afternoon. Kova started against Southampton but Zakaria has not featured since his injury one and a half months ago, the weekend could provide that opportunity.
