Former Bayern CEO takes dig at Chelsea’s spending spree

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who left Bayern Munich in 2021, has taken a dig at Chelsea’s spending.

Karl told Corrielle dello sport via Goal: ““Chelsea wasted hundreds of millions of euros just to find themselves tenth in the table, it’s absurd. The globalisation of the market has created an incredible disparity. Once upon a time, there was an internal market and money circulated within a system. Wealth must be distributed in a better way.”

There have been a lot of these salty quotes from executives and people with influence connected to other clubs and this quote in particular is nothing more than opinion.

Chelsea can argue that they distributed their money into good area’s of the squad, multiple young players such as Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, Carney Chukweumeka and Cesare Casadei were purchased with a view to either break into the first team or be sold for profit whilst the club spent huge amounts on the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk for instant impacts.

Many moaned about the price of Joao Felix’s loan fee but Chelsea so far seem to have got that call correct also, with Felix providing much needed flair and individual ability to the Chelsea side.

Even those such as Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly who put together cost nearly 150 million pounds, have plenty of time to turn things around.

Unfortunately Chelsea’s owners will have to keep preparing for quotes coming out from individuals not connected with Chelsea who just simply wish they had enough cash to spend as the Blues.
