Chelsea’s current number one goalkeeper Kepa Arrizbalaga ranks first for save percentage in the premier league this season.
Kepa, who has kept seven clean sheets in 13 appearances this season has racked up a 83.3% save percentage according to stats website fotmob.
Chelsea have the third most clean sheets in the entire league despite sitting 10th in the table and Kepa’s performances have been a huge reason for that, the most memorable performance this season was in Chelsea’s away win against Aston Villa where Kepa pulled of some heroic stops including a triple save.
Kepa, unlike Mendy, offers sharp, accurate ball playing ability with his feet which is especially important for a Graham Potter side as he likes to play out from the back.
It remains to be seen what happens long term with Kepa, and Mendy in this instance, but for the remainder of this season Potter will know he can count on Kepa more often than not as the Spaniard’s confidence is evident.
