Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, who now works on Bein sports, has called for Todd Boehly to bring back Jose Mourinho.
“Mourinho is a former Chelsea manager, enormously popular with the crowd, and the most successful individual the club have ever appointed,” Keys told beIN SPORTS.
“He’s a populist, (Todd Boehly), he wants to give the Chelsea fans something to get excited about”.
“The experiment with Potter has failed miserably, so that’s got to change”.
Mourinho has already made his desire clear to return to Chelsea in an interview with Sky Sports a few months ago. The multiple title winning coach insisted that he will forever own a house a few hundred metres away from Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho would certainly be an intriguing option should the owners decide to part company with Graham Potter however there would again be questions around the fit if Mourinho did come back given the fact that Chelsea’s owners are moving towards building a team of young talents rather than ready made, experienced winners, something which you would expect traditionally Mourinho would rather work with.
It remains to be seen what happens with Potter next week.
