Chelsea have made a verbal agreement to sign Thiago Silva to a new one year contract extension, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The defender has been playing so well that his staying put for another year at least has seemed like a given, but it hasn’t yet been signed off.
The good news is that Romano says the “draft” is being prepared for Silva now that all the details are agreed verbally, and the 38 year old will roll into a fourth year as a Blue.

Every year we expect to be the one that the Brazil star is phased out, but given he remains so outstanding – he would without doubt be our top player of the year candidate for this season as it stands – we could be left waiting a while.
He’s currently doing a great job teaching Benoit Badiashile the ropes – passing on knowledge to the next generation of Blue.
