Chelsea maintain interest in Everton midfielder despite relegation struggles

Amadou Onana, the Everton midfielder, is a player Chelsea considered buying in January, and are apparently still keen on.

That’s according to Bobby Vinvent, who writes for Football.London.

He reiterates that we made contact with the Belgium international and his representatives in the winter window, without making a formal offer or even a particularly concrete attempt to sign him.

There seem so be some bigger names that we like even more, but as a second tier option Onana is clearly tempting us. He only arrived on Merseyside in the summer and Everton have really struggled, but there’s some real talent there, and if the Toffees go down one would imagine he would be among the first to go.

There’s a long time to wait until the summer window, and the 21 year old will have plenty more time to build up his Premier League CV in the interim to see if he can earn the interest of top clubs.
