Benoit Badiashile’s signing came as something of a surprise to a lot of Chelsea fans.
Unlike in many cases, we didn’t get a long drawn out saga – the club just swooped and signed him, and before long he was in the team.
He has at times been displaced by a Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana, but he’s already shown his superb qualities, and the stats show just how dominant he’s been, in one area in particular.
Badiashile has won 69.4% of his aerial duels, putting him top of all our outfield players. That aerial dominance is clear when you watch the games, as his height and athleticism give him a huge advantage against almost all attackers.
Competition will hot up once again when Thiago Silva is back from injury – but in the interim Badiashile has done more than enough in his 7 Premier League starts to already look like a superb signing.
