Graham Potter has been sacked by Chelsea, following a 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
The Blues boss has been under intense pressure for months after enduring a historically poor start to his time as Chelsea manager. He had only been appointed in September, at great cost to the club.
It had seemed that a run of wins in March would keep Potter in a job at least until the end of the season, but in the end sense has prevailed. A long term project, it seems, is only as long term as the results allow. The new ownership are learning their lessons quickly, one would hope.
It calls further into question the board’s decision to sack one of European football’s top coaches Thomas Tuchel back in August, and makes their decision to replace him with an unconvincing, unproven successor even more baffling.
Let’s hope their next choice is a little better thought out.

Great decision made… please brings Jose Mourinho back to the club as he is fan’s favorite. Potters was racist and lowest level
