The latest word from German insider Florian Plettenberg is that Bayern Munich are not interested in signing Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
There have been whispers building up that the Croatian could leave, and Bayern has been pushed as a potential destination given he’s a German speaker and given their new boss Thomas Tuchel worked with Kovacic at Chelsea.

Plettenberg confirms that Bayern “appreciate” the midfielder and that Tuchel has a good relationship with him after their shared time at Chelsea, but insists that the club don’t want to sign him.
In all honesty, we’re not too surprised. For all of his quality, Kovacic is a somewhat limited player, and Bayern are always looking to aim higher and improve an already fantastic squad. His contract situation means that he could be a good buy for someone this summer, but it doesn’t look like it will be Bayern on this occasion.
