Chelsea’s name always comes up whenever AC Milan attacker Rafa Leao is mentioned, and that has not changed in recent weeks with some whispers suggesting Chelsea are still interested in signing him this coming summer.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes that they are no longer pushing for Leao due to investing in Ukrainian international winger Mykhailo Mudryk in January.

And also, Romano confirms that Leao is actually very happy at AC Milan and is now very close to finally confirming and signing his new contract at the club, another saga that has gone on for months on end.

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Romano said: “Chelsea wanted Rafael Leao last August but then they invested in Mykhaylo Mudryk instead. Man City were never in the race recently.

“He’s very happy at Milan, the agreement is very close but not completed or signed yet. We have to wait and see at the end of the season.”
