The eight players that Pochettino could sell as his Chelsea revolution begins

Now that Mauricio Pochettino has finally been confirmed, he and the club can get on with the business of finally reshaping the squad into some semblance of one that will be challenging for honours next season.

The sooner that 2022/23 can be put to one side the better, and much of what happens over the coming weeks will go a long way to banishing the memories of what an awful campaign it was.

Clearly, there will need to be an overhaul, and at least eight players will be waiting for the fateful call or meeting with the Argentinian and his staff to be told that their Blues career is over.

As Mirror Sport reported in early May, Poch wants a new goalkeeper as a priority, so one of Edouard Mendy or Kepa Arrizabalaga will be moved on.

Question marks still remain over Cesar Azpilicueta, and though Barcelona are still looking for a right-back, it’s doubtful now that he’ll head to Catalonia.

The striker situation also needs to be addressed, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kai Havertz depart, along with Joao Felix. The Portuguese has shown his worth in fits and starts but isn’t the goalscorer the club need at this point.

With Mateo Kovacic entering the final year of his contract and the Mirror Sport article also referencing that Pochettino wants to keep N’Golo Kante, it might be the right time to sell the Croatian.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic are all fringe players that could bring some money into the coffers and alleviate some of the potential impending FFP issues too.

  1. these folks, Mandy, chelabah, Loftus-Cheek, Gallagher, Pulisic, Zakaria, Ziyech, Aubameyang, and César Azpilicueta need tp go and also need to add these four: Mac Allister, Josko Gvardiol, Dani Olmo and Hary Kane. , then done for the next 5 years.

    thanks Tim …
