Frank Lampard’s interview with Chelsea TV after the game yesterday saw him with mixed feelings. He didn’t want to be happy after a loss, but ultimately… he was.
As he pointed out, we were playing the best team in Europe and we did a good job of containing them and making chances ourselves.
He has a point. It was a silly error that saw us behind, and we actually had the better of the chances after that, hitting the post and also striking a few shots right at their keeper and seeing one saved off the line.
Cesar Azpilicueta was also inches away from equalising right at the death.
It feels odd to say it after such a slow and sleepy dead rubber, but we really could have won it.
