Ally McCoist has claimed that the wealth of good players available to Chelsea’s coaches this season has made their job more difficult, paradoxically.
You won’t find many coaches complain of having “too many good players,” but we can see his point.
There’s no doubt it has made the jobs of Graham Potter and Frank Lampard more difficult. Neither has been able to settle on a first choice team because they’re spoiled for choice in theory – yet see the players they put on the pitch struggle.
If there wasn’t always a bunch of tempting new toys sitting on the bench, the coaches might have been more consistent in their selection.
