With Chelsea playing Man City tomorrow, Frank Lampard was of course asked in his press conference about playing Erling Haaland, the goal machine who has just broken the Premier League season scoring record and could add to his tally against the Blues tomorrow.
The Chelsea manager was asked to compare the fearsome Norwegian with one of his own old teammates and another top 9 – Didier Drogba. He said he couldn’t compare the two, but then pointed out something that Haaland had already done better than Drogba.
Lampard pointed out that despite the “doubts” about Haaland and how he would adjust to the Premier League and to Man City’s style of play, the forward has come in and crushed it from day one.
That was famously not the case with Drogba, who had a disappointing first year and a slow start to his career overall, only really becoming a Chelsea legend after a year or so of finding his feet.

Drogba scored at a faster rate in his first year than his 2nd or third – you are just repeating old bollocks.
The fans took a while to get behind him – that is their problem.
