Chelsea have just got through their final game of the season with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle, but people were much more interested in what happened in the “lap of appreciation” or in this case a sort of lap of lap of apology.
The thinking is that it will tell us a lot about which players are likely to be leaving judging by their actions as they trudge round applauding all four stands. Nizaar Kinsella noted that Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek (who got pretty much his own farewell ovation in the game) and Cesar Azpilicueta were the last to leave the pitch.
