Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard has just published a piece updating us all on the progress of Edouard Mendy’s transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.
A £16m fee has ben agreed for the goalkeeper, who has accepted a contract offer. Now he just needs to pass his medical – Fabrizio Romano has just Tweeted that the Senegal stopper has his tests tomorrow and the move can presumably be announced pretty soon after that.
It gives the club plenty of time to take the money into their coffers before the now infamous June 30th accounting deadline for Financial Fair Play.
Kalidou Koulibaly’s move to Al Hilal and Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Al Nassr are also already agreed, and both players will likely also be joining Mendy on the exit ramp before the end of next week.
Work must now begin on a replacement for Mendy, who battled Kepa Arrizabalaga for the number one jersey for 3 seasons.
