Another talented striker added to Chelsea’s shortlist for the summer – with dispute about whether Lautaro is better

Chelsea Tweeter Felix Johnston has just put out an “exclusive” claiming the club are have recently enquired about Randal Kolo Muani, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker.

We’ve been waiting a while for an update like this. It has seemed inevitable, as the Blues have been linked to every other striker potentially available this summer. Whether or not there is any substance to this particular rumour, what is certain is that Chelsea’s scouts will have considered or will be considering Muani.

The Tweet claims that incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino prefers Lautaro Martinez, but that the scouts and directors are more in the Muani camp. He had a brilliant first season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals in 32 league starts, and will attract attention from all over this summer.

Until we see Chelsea actually sign a striker, we expect to see plenty more links to Muani and other forwards. This will be a competitive battle – there are simply not enough good strikers out there, as Chelsea have found to their cost summer after summer in recent years.

Muani looks good – but then again so did Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and so many others…
