Arsenal’s new Havertz offer shows Chelsea can get what they want

Arsenal’s bid for Kai Havertz has reached £60m according to Ben Jacobs, who says that the Gunners have bid £55m up front with an additional £5m in bonuses included. It is creeping up from their initial £50m offer and could yet go higher.

Talks are said to be “still positive” and Havertz wants the move so it certainly feels like a matter of time until it’s a done deal.

He includes the detail that Chelsea are confident they’ll get the £75m they’re looking for in the end. Given there’s proper interest in him from several parties, we can see that happening now. It’s quite the turnaround given we wouldn’t necessarily have expected that. Clearly a few teams out there – including Arsenal – think they can make something of the languid attacker, and good luck to them.

It comes just as we confirm the signing of Christopher Nkunku – a nice trade from our perspective if we can get this kind of money for Havertz.
