The rush of players heading to Saudi Arabia has left one move from early in the summer in the dust.
When Ruben Loftus-Cheek waves goodbye to Chelsea fans in the final game of the season it felt like he had a move arranged already. AC Milan had certainly been very keen, and there was every sense that Loftus-Cheek had a move there lined up already. But the sacking of their sporting directors sent everything back to square one, and since then multiple other deals have been completed.
But now things are starting to warm up again as Milan find their feet. Football Italia report that following the impending €80m sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, Milan are ready to invest on a midfield which desperately needs it. The men who wanted RLC are gone, but clearly he’s still considered a good target, and a €25m deal could see both parties happy.
