What a day it’s been Not long ago we were reporting on multiple clubs being interested in Kai Havertz with Real Madrid leading the way – now we’re hearing an afternoon report from Marca which claims the transfer to Spain has collapsed entirely, with Los Blancos focusing all their attentions on an increasingly likely move for Harry Kane.
Over the weekend we had heard from various places that Kane was focused on breaking Premier League records with Spurs, while Madrid were worried he was too old to be a long term solution for their team entering a phase of rejuvenation.
Havertz then emerged as a cheaper, younger alternative to the England captain.
But all that may have been a smokescreen. Jose Felix Diaz reports that Havertz is out of the race but Kane is very much in – with a price of €80m mentioned. They are balking at the €100m that Tottenham want, but it seems there’s a feeling that Kane’s desire for a move will help them reduce that number. Apparently talks have been going on for 10 days.
The headline reads that Operation Kane is underway – and that Havertz has “disappeared” from the process.
We’re not counting Chelsea and Havertz out quite as confidently as Marca are though. Daniel Levy could easily play hardball, and we could see Madrid return with their tail between their legs later in the window.
Havertz to Madrid was ALWAYS a mirage, lol! I don’t question that it was a real rumor, but anyone with half a brain should have been able to rate it as patently absurd BEFORE repeating it. But, hey, I guess it helped Chelsea News generate content (even if it was worthless fluff) and suckered me into clicking. And isn’t that what this is all about? [ugh]
