Just when Chelsea needed it most, Saudi Arabian clubs have arrived like the cavalry to spend money on unwanted squad players.
The timing is so perfect for Chelsea that some have asked questions about links between the Blues and the Saudi money now bailing them out.
It is true that the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia has indeed invested in private equity firm Clearlake Capital which owns Chelsea. But they invest into hundreds of businesses, and hundreds of people invest in Clearlake.
These are the kind of vague accusations that get thrown around, and it’s nice to see Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports addressing them.
