(Video): “Reluctance” for Chelsea to sell attacker – but they might have to do it

On TalkSport this morning Alex Crook reported on rumours that Kai Havertz could leave the club, and said that Chelsea were considering it respite their “reluctance” to sell him.

It all comes down to his contract. Chelsea have to accept he doesn’t want to sign a new one, so selling him is a priority before he gets towards a free move.

As we’ve seen time and again, particularly in the last 12 months, the remaining time on a player’s contract determines almost everything, and in this case even having two years to go means a change in stance. If Havertz has made it clear that he’s not going to sign a new deal, he might as well be sold now as in a year’s time when his value starts to decline.
