Chelsea consider move for 23-year-old Premier League ace after injury blow

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Marc Guehi this summer.

The Crystal Palace defender has established himself as a reliable performer in the Premier League and he was outstanding for the Eagles in the league last season.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea could look to bring him back to the club this summer after the injury blow to Wesley Fofana.

The French defender picked up ligament damage and he is set to be sidelined for several weeks.

Chelsea need to bring in defensive reinforcements and he would be a solid, long-term acquisition. The opportunity to return to his boyhood club could appease the talented young defender as well.

Guehi has shown his qualities in the Premier League as he is certainly good enough to play for a club like Chelsea.

Regular football at Stamford Bridge next season could accelerate his development and help him hold down a regular starting spot in the England national team as well.

The 23-year-old is unlikely to come cheap and Crystal Palace are likely to demand a premium for him. According to reports, the defender could cost in excess of £60 million.

Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market since the new owners have taken over and they have brought in a number of talented young players to improve the squad.

Signing a quality central defender should be a top priority before the window closes, and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to pay up for their former Academy graduate.
