Chelsea snap up youth talent for £4m fee

Chelsea’s summer has so far been focused on two things – selling senior players and signing youth players.

We’re sure the first team will get some much needed strengthening soon, but in the mean time their spending spree on youngsters goes on. Following some trips to the South American market, the Blues have come closer to home for their latest addition.

The club have just confirmed that Ishe Samuels-Smith has joined from Everton for a fee close to £4m, according to Ben Jacobs.

The teenager had the following to say after completing his move:

“It was a shock to me because it all happened quickly, but I’m really glad to be here. It’s going to be a good experience coming into such a big club. It will be a new challenge because there are top players here, so I am going to have to adapt quickly and get through the levels.”

Samuels-Smith was a regular starter for the Toffees’ U21 side last season, and also featured at the U17 Euros this summer. He’s considered one of the best young prospects in the country in his age group, and is able to play centre back or left back.

It will be a few years before he see him in first team action – but a loan move could be in the pipeline before too long.
