Last night saw an exciting transfer news update regarding a potential arrival at Chelsea this summer.
ESPN reported that Chelsea are preparing to make an opening offer for Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki as they seek a replacement for Christian Pulisic.
Sources: Chelsea willing to sell Spanish left back as Pochettino considers Chilwell for captaincy!
Cherki is a hugely exciting young talent and is exactly what Chelsea have been missing really since the days of Eden Hazard, having never really been able to replace the Belgian international.
However, The Guardian reporter Ed Aarons has thrown a bit of shade over the potential of a move, claiming that Lyon are determined not to sell Cherki, in a tweet he posted last night (seen below).
Aarons said: “Lyon are determined not to sell Rayan Cherki this summer despite strong interest from Chelsea in the France Under-21 forward.”

However, we have often heard these types of claims before and the narrative put out by clubs that a player is not for sale, and then said player ending up leaving. This can often be a tactical move when they know interest is coming in.
In the ESPN report, it states how much Lyon need incoming funds, so you’d expect they would entertain a sale.
