Caughtofffside are reporting that former Chelsea player Mateja Kezman, who is now an agent, is trying to move one of his top clients to Stamford Bridge.
Their exclusive says that Sergej Milinkovic Savic, long a rumoured target of Premier League teams, is being touted to the Blues as they look to fill their increasingly large gaps in midfield.
The Serbian box to box star will be a free agent a year from now, and so his price is an affordable €40m. But these new owners have spent a lot of time making the squad younger and lowering the wage bill, and it’s not clear that signing a 28 year old on presumably massive money will be part of that plan.
A year ago they signed another Serie A veteran in Kalidou Koulibaly for similar money, and that didn’t work out well at all. We can totally see the appeal of SMS marauding around in our midfield, but we’re just not sure it’s a move that fits in with our overall strategy at the moment.

Milinkovic-Savic would be a fine addition, but, given his style of play, age, and price, it would have been simpler just to keep Kovacic!
