(Video): A reminder of what Chelsea have to replace after Mount loss

Mason Mount is going to sign for Manchester United in the next 24 hours, and on Sky Sports they had a little feature to point out what that move is going to take away from Chelsea.

It’s not just the fact that since his debut, he’s scored the most goals and got the most assists. It’s also the plain fact that he’s also made the most starts and played the most minutes.

Whoever you bring in is going to have to take up all that slack – and at the moment we don’t seem close to buying anyone at all.

You can see the full rundown of all the numbers in the clip embedded here:

  1. As usual, a fundamentally flawed analysis from SuperFrank. No single incoming midfielder has got to replace Mason Mount’s goals and assists.

First off, Mount wasn’t all that productive last year and from that stand point it’s not a high bar to clear. But secondly, even if we look at his two (more productive) years prior we have to bear in mind that his goals came in the absence of a world class #9. If we’d had the likes of a Kane or a Lewandowski he’d never have hit double-digit goals. Finally, anyone who knows anything about football knows that when a player leaves its never about a new player bearing sole responsibility to “replace” the outgoing player’s productivity. It’s always about the team as a whole and especially so I’m this case, with a literally half the squad turning over!

This is just another example of SuperFrank trying to build up his favorite golden boy (as if he will be missed). Let him go, SuperFrank. Let him go.
