Fabrizio Romano made a brief cameo appearance on the CaughtOffside podcast yesterday, but as always he made the most of his time there, in this case revealing what Chelsea are waiting for before launching a move for established forwards like Dusan Vlahovic or Paolo Dybala.
He reinforced what we essentially heard Mauricio Pochettino admit in his first Chelsea press conference – we won’t be bringing in a striker until (and indeed, if) Romelu Lukaku is sold.
That’s the priority now, and while there doesn’t seem to be much progress on that front, perhaps the prospect of him having to report back for first team preseason with Mauricio Pochettino this week will encourage everyone to find a compromise.
