Chelsea struggled for goals through all of last season – the new campaign is off to a much brighter start.
After just two minutes of our first friendly we’ve found the net, and the first scorer of the Mauricio Pochettino era is – Ian Maatsen, playing out of position at left wing.
He was perfectly in position to get on the end of a ball in the box and finish after a sweeping Chelsea move. Nicolas Jackson carried the ball from deep in a really threatening way, then got his head up at the right time.
Long may this goalscoring form continue. The team needs to relax and feel fluid, and that comes from these friendlies.
