Gabriele Marcotti is a great pundit, and we love to get his clear sighted opinions on Chelsea matters.
His breakdown of the current situation with Romelu Lukaku summed it up perfectly for those who haven’t followed the latest twist in the tale, with Inter Milan flouncing out of negotiations after the striker stopped picking up the phone.
As Marcotti points out, if Inter aren’t going to come back in for Lukaku (and it seems like they won’t) and if Lukaku isn’t going to accept a move to Saudi Arabia (and it seems like he won’t) then there is only so much that can be done.
Another loan move organised in August might be our only way out – “that’s the only alternative,” he concludes.
You can see his interesting break down of the whole matter in the video embedded here:

Screw him. Let him train with U-21s for a year! What do we really have to lose? If a loan only goes part way to offsetting his wages then we’d take a loss in the short-term, but we’d send a very loud message (and avoid more costly shenanigans of this type) in the long-run to any player who thinks they can sign a contract with Chelsea and then turn around and renege on it by demanding a move.
Ship him to straousborg for two seasons
