Two further midfield options emerge for Chelsea

Nathan Gissing’s piece summarising Chelsea’s transfer market activity this summer has generated quite a lot of chatter today.

There are a few interesting notes, but we are particularly interested in what he has to say about our midfield options. What’s clear is that Moises Caicedo is our first choice option, but our attempts to sign him seem to have gone nowhere for a month or more now.

Gissing claims there are two alternatives to Caicedo being considered by the sporting directors now – Edson Alvarez and Tyler Adams.

They’re slightly different players, but both would be able to fulfil the hard-running defensively focused central midfield role. Alvarez is an existing target, and tried to force a move last summer when we expressed interest.

Adams is an interesting one, with Leeds having been relegated he could be available for a decent price, and he did look good in his one year in the Premier League so far.
