(Video): Nico Jackson has first Chelsea goal with poacher’s finish

We’ve loved everything we’ve seen from Nico Jackson so far in a Chelsea shirt, and he didn’t need a goal to prove anything.

But he’s got one, and you can see the delight on his face.

In the end it was an easy chance he stole in behind the defenders and Raheem Sterling’s cross deflected to him to touch in over the line from close range. We love that movement and poacher’s instinct to get in there.

You can see the goal in the clips embedded here:

  1. He’s shown such great speed, movement and surprising strength. Really nice to see him get one.

In other news, moments before the goal it was another howler of a pass from Gallagher that bought Enzo a YC who had to shut down a dangerous counter-attack. The square pass from Gallagher was the sort of thing good youth coaches warn players never to make. What he’s thinking doing it at this level is beyond me. Just another example (and there seems to be at least one in every game) of the player making costly mental mistakes. Not something we can continue to afford against better opponents. Hopefully he moves to substitute role once Lavia is up and running.
