Chelsea’s training ground footage from today saw manager Mauricio Pochettino quite literally with his arm around Mykhailo Mudryk.
The coach draped himself over the struggling winger in such a friendly and relaxed way as he asked about what had happened on international duty. Pochettino is famed for his “man management” abilities” and this is the kind of thing people mean, he just forms such a natural bond with players.
It’s hard to imagine Graham Potter (or to be fair, most former managers) doing it. We really feel like if anyone is going to be able to restore Mudryk’s confidence, it’s Pochettino.
