Rory Jennings was on Sky Sports this weekend and he took the chance to bemoan Chelsea’s crazy spending this summer.
“We’ve spent a billion and got worse,” he claimed. It’s an exaggeration, and we’re hoping that by the end of the season it looks silly, but it’s hard to deny that on the evidence of the first 4 games of the season compared to last, he’s right.
He takes particular issue with the way that Todd Boehly made himself sporting director last summer, which to be fair is where a lot of our current issues stem from.
You can see him make his argument in the clip embedded here:

People worried and jealous that Chelsea spends a billion of pounds to bought the players. The question is, why do you worry about someone money just be quite and wait for what gonna happening next
It is silly. So why even repeat it?
And as for Boehly taking on the role of sporting director…. What choice did he have given how long the British govt took in approving the sale?! The transfer window would have been closed by the time he onboarded someone for crying out loud. Ask yourself this as well—would any of this criticism of Boehly be leveled if a British billionaire had bought the club instead of and American? I seriously, seriously doubt it.
