“Chelsea is a massive club, it’s a big one” – youngster reflects on moving to Blues

Chelsea owned youngster Cesare Casadei has been speaking to Leicester’s club website, where he is currently on loan.

Casadei performed well in pre season for Mauricio Pochettino after making the move from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022, but the club felt it would be appropriate for him to gain first team football this season.

Casadei said: “Chelsea is a massive club, it’s a big one. I thought that moment could arrive just once in my life.

“When Chelsea came to me, I didn’t think at all to be honest because I just wanted to join them. I know how big Chelsea is and for my development, I thought that was the best choice for me.”

It is interesting to hear Casadei say that Chelsea was the best for his development as historically, young players have joined for everything aside from that. However, with the ownership moving to a more youth led approach, Casadei could well find himself in the squad next season if he develops well out on loan and steers Leicester back up to the Premier League after their shock relegation.

One still thinks though that a lot of these talented players will be given good pathways to make themselves better, but eventually be cashed in on by the owners, in a similar approach we see at clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, Leipzig and others.
