With January now being right around the corner, we are starting to hear more about Chelsea’s plans for the winter transfer window.
Chelsea are a club in transition, but with the amount of players they have signed over the last few transfer windows, nobody expects them to be too busy in January again.
However, there might be a couple of positions they are still looking to sign in, and the latest report might be a bit surprising to some.
That is because according to journalist Simon Phillips writing on his Substack site today, Chelsea are advancing plans to sign a new centre back and could now move to get one in January.
He reports that plans have been accelerated and Chelsea are now searching for a centre back for more than a deep cover option which they would have waited until the summer for. They want a ‘difference maker’ for the here and now.
