Mauricio Pochettino should change Cole Palmer’s position this weekend – opinion

Cole Palmer has been playing on the right hand side for Chelsea since joining, and one may ask why I am writing this article about wanting to change his position after his performance against Burnley last weekend, but I believe that every game is different and you have to think about the context surrounding each side Chelsea face and their tactics.

Though Palmer has been playing on the right hand side, he has been drifting into central zones whilst Conor Gallagher occupies more of a free-roam role as the number ten, also often tasked with tracking back and helping out the midfield two behind him.

Against Arsenal, I believe with Zinchenko tucking into midfield and essentially making a four man midfield, Chelsea may need to deploy a different strategy to make Mikel Arteta and Zinchenko think more.

That strategy for me would be to start either Raheem Sterling or Noni Madueke on the right hand side with the aim of pinning Zinchenko into the traditional left back position, forcing him to face a constant 1v1 pacey threat, rather than Cole Palmer who has less of a direct threat and pace in behind  in his locker.
