In recent weeks Chelsea looked to have solved their major issue – scoring goals.
They’ve got from terrible in front of goal to a lot better – but there’s still a long way to go. Saturday reminded us all that our creativity is still some way ahead of our productivity.
Just look at the missed chances. Enzo skied one (again) early doors, then later with Chelsea 1-0 up Cole Palmer flashed one past the far post. Then Malo Gusto knocked one over the bar. In the second half, Cole Palmer had the ball saved at his feet by David Raya. Nicolas Jackson fluffed a couple of chances late on.
For all their quality, the two goals in the game came from a penalty and a cross which flew in directly. There’s still a long way to go in terms of efficiency.
