Raheem Sterling felt he deserved a penalty when he was pushed over by a Brentford defender on Saturday.
That was the focus of some of the debate on the usual Monday “ref watch” on Sky Sports with former ref Dermot Gallagher.
In the end, Gallagher, Sue Smith and Stephen Warnock all agreed it probably was enough of a push to warrant a spot kick, even if Sterling did ham it up.
It just feels like we’re not getting the rub of the green at the moment.

I’ll say it again, each team should have 3 reviews same as other top sports (tennis, rugby, cricket etc.) whereby they can ask VAR to review, same review rules apply as in other sports (wrong lose / right retain) VAR can continue to have an overview of the game same as it does now – teams would I’m sure welcome some positive involvement in the technological enhancements to the game?
