Mauricio Pochettino was given the chance to lavish Raheem Sterling with praise with the opening question in his press conference, but instead he chose to play it down.
“It’s his job to play well,” the Chelsea coach grinned. Clearly he doesn’t want to go overboard, and wants to push Sterling to keep it up. Although there’s no denying that his two assists and a goal were crucial today.
It’s been well established that Pochettino is a master of man management, and this is just another piece in that puzzle. If he thinks this is what Sterling will respond best to, we’ll bow to his knowledge.
