Chelsea defender reveals the club wanted him to stay

Chelsea youngster Bashir Humphreys, currently on loan at Swansea, has revealed that Chelsea actually wanted him to stay in the squad this season but Mauricio Pochettino spoke to him and advised him to go and play.

Pochettino and the sporting directors worked together in the summer and the performances of Humphreys in pre season gave something for them to think about.

He is now on loan as previously said and has started well with some solid displays at the back for Swansea.

Personally, with the level of maturity he showed in pre season, and if he continues to have a good loan spell, he should at least get a chance to replace the departing Trevoh Chalobah next season.

If what Bashir said is true, it shows that the club really believe in him and see him in their future plans, although there is always the cruel possibility that those were just words to make him play well, before getting sold for profit next summer.

  1. Bash and Darling doing good enough business every week to keep internationals on Swansea’s bench. Clean sheets mounting up with Rushworth in goal.
