Signed for a whopping £52m from Brighton in 2022, it is fair to say that Marc Cucurella up until this point can be labelled as a flop.
However, the Spaniard is doing absolutely everything this season to turn around his career at Chelsea, with some top, consistent performances coming at both right back and left back under Mauricio Pochettino.
Cucurella is looking defensively solid and his ability to play out of tight spaces and escape the opposition press is really helping Chelsea’s build up play going forwards.
Sky Sports have shown a graphic that reflects just how well he is going, ranking 1st in multiple stats in the Chelsea squad.
That move to not let him go to Manchester United on loan is looking more and more like the correct decision as weeks pass by, although it is fair to say at the time that he was looking like a player who had been casted out, before surprisingly impressing in the cup at right back when Malo Gusto and Reece James weren’t available.
